A Gasket, in general, is a substance or material used to fill or seal gap between two mated surfaces or substrates. In a sealing application, the gasket generally prevents leakage from some mechanical assembly, or prevents infiltration from external contaminants. In some applications, the gasket may also serve as s curshion, a vibration dampener, an air or dust seal, or provide heat or electrical resistance.
